Ganapati festival is round the corner. So it’s time for making modak. Today let’s make fried modak. These are deep fried modak with sweet coconut stuffing and crispy outside covering. Let’s learn to make Fried Modak. Do not forget to leave a comment.
Ingredients
For outer covering
2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp salt
ghee (for frying)
water
For inner filling
1 and 1/2 cups jaggery (grated or powdered)
1 and 1/2 cups fresh coconut (grated or desiccated)
2 tbsp roasted sesame seeds
1 tsp cardamom powder
a pinch of grated nutmeg
1/2 cup water
How to Make Fried Modak
How to make For inner filling
Boil water in a pan. Now addjaggery, fresh coconut, sesame seeds, cardamom powder and nutmeg in it.
Cook on a low or medium flame till mixture is cooked. Keep this aside to cool.
For outer covering Take whole wheat flour, salt and 1/2 tsp ghee in a plate and mix them.
Now add water to make smooth dough. Now cover and keep the dough aside for 20-30 minutes.
Assembling & shaping modaks
Take a small ball from dough. Roll it with palm gently.
Now add the filling in the center. Pinch edges one by one. Bring together all the pinched folds in the center.
Heat ghee in a pan, deep fry the modaks in medium till golden browned.
Serve fried modaks to lord Ganesha as bhog.
