Ghost Stories on the first night of the year, it is not long before producer Karan Johar vowed not to touch horror films again. But, what to do about this film which was made before that. Shashank Khaitan, who has directed Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Dhadak for Karan, has shot the horror by placing it on the shoulder of his assistant Bhanu Pratap Singh. There is a lot of noise in this, but Shashank could not estimate the flow of air nor the weight of the bullet while firing.

Nine years ago, MV Wisdom, a water ship going from Colombo to Gujarat's Alang Yard, hit the Juhu beach in Mumbai. In this true incident, Bhanu Pratap Singh wrote a story of horror, which the creative team of Dharma Productions liked so much that they decided to make a 114-minute film on it. But, Bhanu Pratap has neither the story nor his direction. 

Gone is the film's cinematographer Pushkar Singh and editor Bodhaditya Banerjee's talent that the audience stayed to watch the film till the end. Otherwise, the film is such that it repeats the same thing again and again after the interval and tests the patience of the audience along with its hero Vicky Kaushal.

The film moves forward with the incident of the personal life of the film's protagonist Prithvi, who narrates the story of an accident on a ship arriving in Juhu Beach. Prithvi's work is of a surveyor, but since he has to become the hero of this so-called horror story, it is shown at the beginning of the film that he is less interested in his work and more interested in becoming a hero to save others. 

The friend also asks him, "Are you a superhero?" I wish Dharma's creative team could ask itself this question too. The stigma of Dharma is not going to be washed away by the Mirchi Music Awards received in bulk. Dharma needs a fresh overhaul, otherwise, the day is not far when Dharma, like those of Ram Gopal Varma's factory, is also given, giving special thanks to Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship.

Ashutosh Rana, who became Professor Agni Swarup in the film Raj 18 years ago, has again become a professor in Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship who has every knowledge of souls. But, unlike Raj, his character here is neither strong nor effective. In the film, he is able to remain involved with for name only. Yes, Bhumi Pednekar's stardom is beginning to show. As long as she appears on the screen, the audience is very happy. His performance in the scene trying to return to Earth also seems to be candid.

Apart from cinematography and editing, the rest of the technical side of the film also does not help the film much. The film's visual effects are mediocre. Background music is not intimidating and produces no shuddering. There is also no extra effort in set designing that the audience can notice.

People come to watch horror films. Karan Johar tries to show him a thriller film. Which the audience considers ghosts throughout the film. He is not a ghost at all. And, seeing the ghost who is afraid, more laughter comes. In the Hindi film, who killed the villain is the same hero and here Vicky Kaushal, not the hero, has done his ax by chance. Fear may not be felt by watching this film, but the audience may be afraid that Karan Johar Bhoot is going to come with Part Two and Part Three as well.
